"One work finished, the next is started immediately, I am so addicted to my art" I wish that was true, but I merely draw anything serious... Sadly... I wish I did though... But for some reason I just doodle 95% of the time.
"I restart only when inspiration strikes, it may take awhile" is more correct... And that's once or twice every month, and I cancel the painting a few days later...
I have several going at the same time....sometimes one will take precedence, but I usually keep three or four going. I will focus on one eventually....but right now I have 5 sketches and 2 partially started with coloring and value with 2 in detail work stages....it's not always like this. I think this happens because I doodle a lot more now, and when an idea hits me I'll do a sketch and rough in a bit and then move back to whatever I was working on....
ps. We have something else in common now...I got notice on my job Friday....it will end on June 1.
oh dear sweetie, wow bad news indeed, is it a financial drama dearest? My work situation is turning into a real nightmare, they have done me a bad bad turn there, they wanted to scam me out of my severance payment and consequently the dole and I refused. So now instead of being able to stay at home and to rest I will have to go there, in the psychological war zone pfff, and sit out my period till the end of september + prolongations for all sickness leave and vacations (so till end october, november perhaps) I am on holdiday now, I go to Italy, and return there on may 25 to a painfull situation unknown. Courage dearest and thanks for replying the poll, this is so insightful for me to see how you guys handle your great passion and the demands of the muse.
It is financial drama. There are layoffs all over the university where I work. I did have more seniority than some, but there were politics involved and people in administration who wanted me gone. I am so sorry to hear you are having such problems with your severance. We don't get severance but they gave me a 30 day notice and I do get paid for any vacation time I have. I also have a retirement fund that I get to keep. I am really sad because I love the people I worked with in my department and the faculty were wonderful as well. But I will still see them from time to time as a student, so that is good. I wish you all the best and hope you have a wonderful vacation in Italy!
Several, and I jump between them depending on mood and inspiration..but sometimes I get really addicted and can not leave a piece alone, have to sit up..sometimes all of the night and forget to eat too soooo weird!! last night I was awake until 3.30
