Artist's Comments

Dear friends and watchers,

Avalon was the most magical place in the Arthurian legends. You could only get there if you could find the island through the mist. This elf is responsible for creating the mist.

I started to paint one of my moulin rouge girls and in the process I ended up with an elf. As an artist one does not always understand what it is when the painting takes over and gets a life of itself, those who paint will know this and I for one always obey my muse.

I dedicate this elf once again to my friend Ellen :iconvaledhelven: great lover of elves and friend extraordinaire.
Probably she will scold me a bit for dedicating another work to her, but she has sole owners rights to all my elves.
So this point is clear now.
I will not forget my other watchers, much more paintings and dedications will be made in the future, bear with me friends.

For the mists I used a brush from :iconemelody: thanks it is a great one.

So enjoy my second elf and thanks in advance for all the favs and the sweet or constructive comments, all this is welcome.

You need to cross the mist to find Avalon but could you escape to such amazing drawing ?
With a "limited" palette of colors and tones, the artist creates a entrancing atmosphere of magic, which reminds me Luis Royo's works. Not only this lady is beautiful but the fact she represents to some extent the gate to Avalon makes her be so fascinating.
Elaborate texture for her skin, many details on her eyes and crown, elegant patterns on her dress are some elements which create an incredible realism.
More of this, I'm stunned by the the realism of her expression, her eyes seem so vivid!
In top of that, the mist surrounding her is a main part of the composition, giving it its title, at the same time slight and omnipresent, perfecting this art.
Maybe I just would ask a very little bit more smoothing for the hair but this is truly to be critical...

absolutely breathtaking!

The only time a character is ever allowed to sparkle in sunlight is if they grabbed a Super Star from the Mario games!

Real vampires don't sparkle. They just don't.

Jesus Christ is my savior!

I am addicted to books but it gets in the way of the painting lol :library:

This picture vindicates your position on my watch list. It's very beautiful, one of your most accomplished works so far.

Thank you!
I like it too, in the meantime I corrected the left eye thanks to the remark by Loks11 here above.
I am glad you like it, it is of course also the subject matter, Avalon is such a magical place.
